Resilient and sustainable non-woven for the healthcare sector

The project idea is to, through collaboration within the value chain – from material manufacturers,
product manufacturers to users, and recyclers – achieve the following:
i) Shared system knowledge, particularly regarding material properties in relation to their usage,
ii) Efficient material, product, and user specifications that align with production processes, product
design, and application,
iii) Development of a system to ensure material availability (in Sweden) during various types of crises.

In Phase 1, we will evaluate material flows and conduct small-scale trials of new, greener raw material
alternatives (recycled and/or bio-based) within non-woven production. In Phase 2, we aim to test how
a logistics chain could be designed through collection trials and evaluation of the collected material in
new products. Thanks to the involvement of multiple stages of the supply chain in Phase 1, favorable
conditions for the next step are established. The project will also include process optimization for non-woven products.

The goal of the project is to increase the resilience of material supply to the healthcare sector
