Here are the latest projects that will drive Swedish industry towards net zero

Net Zero Industry’s latest call for proposals has now resulted in 32 exciting projects, all of which aim to contribute to a competitive and resilient Swedish manufacturing industry.

The dominant part of the industry’s climate impact does not arise in manufacturing, but in material production and during the use phase of the products. The latest call for proposals has focused on solutions that consider the entire life cycle – from raw materials to reuse. A value chain perspective is not only crucial for reducing emissions, but also for creating a more robust and resilient industry.

“The programme’s mission is very ambitious – but also necessary. To succeed, it requires system innovation, collaboration and a holistic perspective on industry value chains. We are pleased with the outcome of the call for proposals and look forward to the projects getting underway,” says Cecilia Ramberg, responsible for calls for proposals.

The projects that have received funding

The applications were of a high quality, and earlier this autumn, Net Zero Industry’s steering group decided to increase the call budget to enable more projects to be funded. It is now clear which projects have been granted funding to turn ideas into concrete solutions.

The projects that have been granted funding are:

• Circular Sub-Sea Infrastructure: Enabling Low-Carbon Welding and Repair (CIRCWELD)
• TITAN – Transformativa och resilienta nätverk i flygindustrin
• Återvinning av polymerkomposit komponenter för hållbar marinindustri (RECOMP)
• From awareness to action for industrial decarbonization (A2AID)
• En selektiv reningsprocess för att avlägsna elastan och restfärger från textilavfall baserad på subkritisk CO2 teknologi
• RE-PCB
• Återanvändning och cirkulär utnyttjande av overspray-avfall från termisk sprutning (RECOVER)
• GREEN-SAW: Tools to Generate Resource and Energy Efficient Next-gen Sawmills
• REcirkulerat material inom Saab – från GRIPens kolfiberspill till sekundära produkter (RE-GRIP)
• EvoShell: Utveckling av svenska biobaserade material för bred marknadsimplementering
• Fossilfri skänkförvärmning och värmebehandling i järn- och stålgjuterier (FOSK)
• SIWash – Resurseffektiva och hållbara industriella tvättar
• Nobel 2.0 – Chemicals Made from Air for Life and Defence
• TexRestore– Industriell återställning av textila produkter för en konkurrenskraftig och resilient svensk tillverkningsindustri
• Ledande lätta skumkärnor för blixtnedslagsskydd
• Information och datadelning för cirkulära flöden av uttjänta elfordonsbatterier (IDEA)
• Textile Mix – Textile Waste Innovations
• Re-lektronik – Strategier för resurseffektivitet och resiliens i den svenska elektronikindustrin genom återanvändning, återtillverkning och återvinning

• Resurseffektiv formsprutning av plast (REFORM)

• BIOCORE: Biogena kretskort för resiliens och resurseffektivitet
• NETSOLDER – Laserbaserad fotonisk lödning för netto-noll elektronikproduktion

• ReNoWo 2 – Cirkulära och resilienta materialflöden för non-wovenprodukter i vården – tekniska, organisatoriska och miljömässiga lösningar för minskad klimatpåverkan och ökad försörjningssäkerhet
