MCRS –Multi circulair and resilients manufacturing

The manufacturing industry is facing an industrial revolution where climate change, resource scarcity, and increasing environmental regulations necessitate a transition to a more on-demand-based, multi-circular economy. This means manufacturing must align with demand, products and components should be repairable and replaceable, and resources must be reused and recycled as efficiently as possible.

With support from innovative project partners and an established innovation platform, Future by Lund, which includes over 90 active partners, we have the foundation for a demonstrator with ready-made structures, models, and methodologies. This enables collaboration across universities, businesses, cities, and organizations to drive cross-sectoral development, create new models, and develop holistic solutions that consider technological, social, cultural, economic, and environmental aspects of sustainable manufacturing.

Starting with functional products and Digital Product Passports (DPP), where traceability ensures sustainable, robust, and multi-circular flows, along with additive manufacturing, we will transfer knowledge into blueprints and build feasible cases for reducing environmental and climate impact. These cases will also serve as full-scale resilient systems applicable to various manufacturing industries.

By leveraging data carriers, analytics, AI, and a multi-circular value chain, we can connect material databases, industrial players, material research, user design, and recycling. This increases the ability to anticipate and respond to disruptions while also generating new business opportunities for the industry.
