Innovative Feed Additive from Fermented Residual Streams for Reducing Methane Emissions in Livestock
The project aims to reduce methane emissions from cattle to curb global warming and achieve net-zero emissions. Methane is a powerful greenhouse gas and accounts for a significant portion of agriculture’s total emissions. In Sweden, approximately 50% of agricultural emissions come from methane generated during cattle digestion (enteric fermentation).
The partners’ goal is to conduct preparatory work to develop a feed product that reduces methane production in cows by optimizing the manufacturing process, preparing trial applications, conducting market analysis, and scaling up production.
