RheoNova: From Technical Capability to Industrial Decision Basis for Rheocasting
Current role and organisation and planned mobility placement:
Mostafa Payandeh is a researcher at RISE Research Institutes of Sweden and project leader of RheoNova. The mobility placement is carried out at Comptech Technology AB in Skillingaryd, Sweden, where the work is integrated with the company’s industrial activities related to RheoMetal and rheocasting.
The purpose is to combine RISE expertise in rheocasting, Life Cycle Assessment and Techno-Economic Assessment with Comptech’s industrial experience and production data. The project will create a clearer and more credible decision basis for rheocasting by assessing its environmental benefits, economic potential and market position, and by identifying the most important knowledge gaps for wider industrial adoption.
The project leader works regularly in Comptech’s industrial environment with access to production data, process models and engineering expertise. The work combines a review of existing knowledge, analysis of production, environmental and cost data, and dialogue with engineers, management and industrial customers. RISE and Comptech jointly review the findings and use them to define priorities for future research and development.
The project will provide a structured assessment of the technical, economic and environmental potential of rheocasting, identify critical knowledge and data gaps, and develop a prioritised research agenda. The results will strengthen the decision basis for vehicle manufacturers and foundries and establish a foundation for future research and innovation projects on resource-efficient, net-zero production of structural aluminium components.
