Achieving Net Zero through transformation capability, sustainability knowledge and technology development
The project aims to strengthen the ability of small and medium-sized manufacturing enterprises (SMEs) to carry out an effective and long-term transition towards net zero emissions. The focus is on the plastics and metal industries, which play a central role in industrial value chains and have significant potential to reduce climate impact through improved production, material use and resource efficiency.
Through an integrated approach, technical expert support in plastics, heat treatment and surface treatment is combined with coaching in sustainability, business development and innovation management. The methodology is based on established, research-based practices from Produktionslyftet, as well as RISE’s innovation management methodology within the Enterprise Europe Network. Together, these provide a coherent support framework that helps companies identify both what needs to change and how change can be implemented and sustained over time.
The project offers two complementary programme tracks tailored to the needs of participating companies: one focusing on green transition capabilities, improvements in production, materials used and resource efficiency, and the other on strengthening companies’ ability to systematically drive innovation and collaboration across the value chain to enable greater emissions reductions. In both tracks, structured coaching is combined with targeted technical support.
The aim is that, by the end of the project, participating companies will have strengthened their ability to analyse climate impact, prioritise actions and implement concrete improvements, as well as developed strategic plans for continued transition and enhanced competitiveness.
