COMET-CCM

Current role and organisation – and planned mobility placement:

Dr. Melike Babucci is Co-founder and Senior Researcher at Hydroyal AB. The mobility placement will take place at the Department of Chemical Engineering at KTH Royal Institute of Technology.

The purpose is to bridge the gap between academic frontier research in CO2 electrolysis and industrial manufacturing. The goal is to combine KTH’s fundamental knowledge of reaction mechanisms with Hydroyal’s roll-to-roll manufacturing capabilities to formulate clear design principles for Swedish-made electrolyser components.

The mobility takes place over nine months through multiple on-site immersion visits at KTH. The practical work involves joint lab experiments using KTH’s state-of-the-art CO2 electrolysis cells, observation of system development, and structured design reviews to translate scientific data into industrial requirements.

The project is expected to deliver a clear development roadmap and design rules for the scalable manufacturing of electrodes and catalyst-coated membranes (CCMs). It will also map out future competence needs for the Swedish manufacturing sector and establish long-term collaborative structures aimed at the emerging global market for CO2-based products.
