SVAN (Collaboration for Western, Eastern, and Southern Sweden’s Transition to Net Zero)
SVAN (Collaboration for Western, Eastern, and Southern Sweden’s Transition to Net Zero) is a collaborative project aimed at supporting small and medium-sized manufacturing companies in their transition to net-zero emissions. By bringing together industry organizations, researchers, and experts, the project provides companies with guidance, coaching, and practical tools to measure, understand, and reduce their climate impact.
A key feature of the project is the combination of individual support and shared learning. Each company receives tailored guidance based on its specific needs, while also participating in focus groups with other companies. These groups work on common themes such as climate data and life cycle assessment (LCA), resource-efficient production, circularity, and supplier requirements. Within the focus groups, companies discuss shared challenges, exchange experiences, and explore practical solutions together.
The network-based learning approach is a major strength of the project. Through workshops, seminars, and knowledge-sharing activities, companies gain insights not only from experts but also from each other. This enables faster dissemination of best practices and allows participants to learn from real-world solutions already tested in similar business contexts.
Overall, the project creates a shared platform for learning, collaboration, and development. Its goal is to strengthen companies’ capabilities, improve decision-making, and enhance competitiveness, while simultaneously reducing climate impact. SVAN serves as a pilot initiative with the ambition of building long-term networks and accelerating the manufacturing sector’s transition to net-zero emissions.
